Review of Invictus (2009) by Aline Miki N — 08 Aug 2011
A remarkable film about one of the worlds greatest presidents, and one of the history's greatest sporting events. For those of you who rate this film poorly, you have absolutely NO idea what it was like to be there in that time and in that moment.
I was there, and the 1995 Rugby World Cup Final was one of the most exhilirating sports matches I have ever seen. I will admit that Damon cast as Pienaar was a bit of a stretch, but he played the part admirably.
Morgan Freeman was the standout, portraying one of the worlds most loved leaders and pulling it off with style and humility. This is an event and a president that I will remember for all my life, and Invictus honoured both the man and the game.
