Review of Invictus (2009) by Mellie B — 02 Apr 2012
This is the "true" story of the 1995 Rugby World Cup and how Nelson Mandela and the Captain of the S.A. Rugby team Fransois Pienaar came together to try and unite a nation in the wake of Apartheid.
At no point during this movie did I believe I was watching a nation in the wake of Apartheid. The tension, anger, fear and hope of the time are never established in this film and what could have been a great movie becomes a cookie cutter sports movie like We are Marshal.
