Review of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) by Tyrone H — 12 Aug 2009
Haven't seen this for ages and rememebered it as being a very good film. Recently read the book and wanted to revisit it. Still a good film but didn't have the impact of the first viewing. The film is scaled up from the invasion of small town America to the Invasion of San Francisco and they make this work when I thought it might stretch credibility.
It makes the later stage of the distribution of the pods to America and beyond even more chilling becuse of the scale a major city and seaport could put behind it and as a result the fate of mankind becomes all the more inevitable.
The end of the film is still as chilling as I remembered. well done for not shoehorning a Hollywood ending onto the film. Forget the latest remake 'Invasion'. It's pants!
