Rewatching the 1978 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" was actually a disappointing undertaking. As much as I remember being fascinated by this film when I was young, the film, although still filled with commendable special effects for its time, is not even remotely as good as I remembered it to be.

Yes, I will have to say, despite it, too, being a medicore film, 2007's "Invasion" is a far better film...and now I am even more curious to see 1956's original take.

Donald Sutherland is just annoying, Brooke Adams is weak, Goldblum is almost unbearable, and this was not a welcome turn for Leanoard Nimoy either. The story unfolds in a very choppy manner, cutting the suspense and hurrying along the characters before you can even begin to even care about what is going on. As the plot unfolds, more and more huge holes lay bare and the end result is more and more eye-rolling as the story jumps from here to there with so much left unexplained or ignored.

Most Sci-Fi purists would want to crucify me for slamming one of the most "classic" films in the genre's history, but sorry, for once, the lame Kidman remake takes this match-up easily, leaving us with the hopes that one day, someone maybe gets this right.

Or maybe they did back in 1956?
