Employing unbearable paranoia to gooey bodily horror, Philip Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of the best remakes of all time. Visually arresting and strange, the movie has a sense of unease from the beginning, instantly grabbing you and hurling you into the terror our brilliant ensemble cast is facing both in terms of trust and in terms of the alien pod people that are attacking Earth.
The subject matter is frightening enough, and the movie is made even scarier by its disturbing sound effects. You can watch this movie as many times as you want and the screams of the pod people will still be ringing in your ears.
Supported by smart direction, a script that expands on the controversy of the original, eerie music, great special effects, and a shocker of an ending, Invasion of the Body Snatchers is as good and as scary as the original, if not better.
