Review of Intolerable Cruelty (2003) by Sebastian G — 11 Apr 2008
This movie entertains. I think it's important to state as much. The trouble with it is that you leave realizing you knew the outcome before the film was 10 minutes in, minus a twist or two, and you realize its a Coen brothers film, and it really falls short of their usually high standards, leaving you feeeling a bit cheated.
On its own merits, its kind of cute, a romantic comedy with a few laughs, but they are somewhat too far between these scenes of seeming love and affection. Ultimatley it has too little sting for my taste, but I never felt bored and never wanted to leave, so it isn't miserable.
