Review of Intolerable Cruelty (2003) by Cory B — 16 Jun 2008
Yay... I've seen all the Coen brothers movies now... and I wish I could have skipped this one. If anyone tells you that this is the worst Coen brothers movie, believe them. The story is great and the acting is top notch, but the level of quality that the Coens have established is way above this.
It's way too silly and almost demands to be not taken seriously. It begins with an extremely creepy cherub-filled fantasy title sequence and ends like a fairy tale. I do believe they were constricted by the PG-13 confines, and a lot of the vision gets lost because of that.
Remind me again my they tried to make a movie that appealed to the mainstream?
