Review of Intolerable Cruelty (2003) by Amanda C — 17 May 2010
I didn't think that the Coen brothers could pull off a romantic comedy, and to dub this film as such is simplifying it quite a bit, however the offbeat sensibility of the Coens' lends a much needed spark to this tired genre.
This is Caterine Zeta-Jones at her best and George Clooney has always been a better actor than he gets credit for, there's one scene in this film where his face does things I've only ever seen Jim Carrey do.
Solid direction as all their films have, and some nice performances from the supporting roles. This film is hugely entertaining, and they managed to shoot someone in the head, which seems to be a hallmark of all their films.
