"She won't suffer, will she?" "Not unless you pay extra." haha Oh, Weezy Joe. The film's title is ironically true. It was intolerably cruel of the Coens to make me watch this.
It was funny sometimes, other times, I was face-palming. The movie is missing something crucial: the Coen Bros. Charm and sophistication. Script was rather average (since when is a Coen film written by the Coens and 2 other random people?).
Acting was alright, except for Zeta-Jones, but I'll get to her in a second. And there's no replay value in it, at least not for me. Now as for Catherine Zeta-Jonesâ¦ugh. I swear she was trying to kill the movie! She reminds me of Cameron Diaz: nice to look at, but unable to act, even if her life depended on it.
I mean, she made me cringe; I was sick to my stomach whenever she was on screen. Side note, I enjoyed The Mask Of Zorro, but not because of her. Clooney, on the other hand, was trying to save the movie haha.
George, and his supporting cast, were pretty good. Cedric The Entertainer was unusually funny, and so were Geoffrey Rush and Billy Bob Thornton. The overall vibe I got from the movie was good, but definitely nothing great.
It's nowhere near Coen quality. As of right now, this is the bottom of the Coen Totem Poll for me, and I hope this is as low as it gets.
