Review of Into the Woods (2014) by Titan R — 30 Aug 2015
Into The Woods is a musical fairy tale focused on the combination of all the famous fables. Let me just say that the singing is fantastic, the performances were even better and the MOST of the songs were solid in content as well as dialogue.
However, the film is way too long. I mean, like a good 40 minutes too long. It starts off as an enchanting and clever combination of fairy tales, only to get jumbled up into a cluster, and something to do with a giant or something.
The second half really bought this movie down, which is a huge shame, since it started off so solidly. There was also a surplus of characters, and the movie tried to do something with each of them, but still couldn't manage to muster anything too good, despite it's strenuous runtime.
Good songs, good acting, great Johnny Depp cameo, but a story that drags it's intrigue down to the very last shred before coming to an unsatisfactory conclusion.
