A fantastic musical. Sondheim provides a deceptively difficult, yet phenomenal, score (it beat Phantom for the Best Score Tony in 1988), with James Lapine providing the book and directing. I'm so glad that this was recorded with the original cast.
Everyone gives a great performance, especially Chip Zien and Joanna Gleason, who has such great expression and comedic timing. It's not surprising she won the Tony for Best Actress. If you enjoy musicals, you must watch this.
I've listened to the score many, many times over, and it is as enchanting as it was when I first saw the DVD.
