Review of Into the Woods (1991) by Rocky S — 29 Jan 2008
Perhaps I'm not the best person to post a review for this play given I'm such a die-hard Steven Sondheim fan and this is the play that really got me hooked when I first saw this on LASERDISC. Old school!
The story it itself was amazing given how it managed to weave together so many classic fairy tales into one narrative. Set this against the classic Sondheim flair for music, complicated dialog and overlapping lyrical lines and you get yourself a highyl dynamic play that is amazing to behold and significantly challenging to put on.
