Review of Into the Wild (2007) by Yuri L — 06 Nov 2015
A rewatch ~9 years after watching with Brav, the closing scenes still have as much impact :) A little slow sometimes, and some of the lines ring as know it all spoilt pretentiousness instead of worldly insight. But great atmosphere, some excellent acoustic tracks written for the film and early promise from a lovelorn Stewart.
The hippy couple are great characters with some of the most rewarding scenes, along with the wonderful performance from Hal Holbrook as a grandfather figure near the end. A little chilling to know this is based on a true story- but the more powerful for it. Great stuff from Penn.
