Review of Into the Wild (2007) by Haleya. — 06 Apr 2008
One of the best and most underrated films of last year! Emile Hirsch is brilliant as Christopher McCandless, and really captured the essence and spirit of the character. Sean Penn's screenplay and direction were wonderful, and was completely snubbed through all award season.
The ensemble in this film is outstanding! Catherine Keener was perfect, Hal Holbrook was heartwrenching and sweet, and Jena Malone, Vince Vaughn, and Kristin Stewart all help round out the performances which help make this film so great.
I can't believe that this film only received a few Academy Award nominations, and barely won any awards through out the award season. This is such a beautiful film, from the cinematography to the acting to the script, and needs to be seen by everyone!! The spirit and the chemistry of the film will captivate audiences, and will surely make people appreciate the beauty of the world.
