Review of Into the Wild (2007) by Jonathan G — 14 May 2012
Great movie! It only took me 5 years to watch it (on purpose). While in college (15 years ago), I drew up a 'bucket list' that included things like jumping freight trains and wild exploration. When this movie came out, people were already telling me the ending.
They were warning me not to do what I felt I needed and desired to do. I refused to watch the film for fear that it may deter me from it. In late Fall of 2008 I finally did it. The movie makes a lot of sense to me.
It was one of the freest and most independent times I've ever felt. I was happy... for a while at least. Sean Penn did a great job of writing and directing this piece. Pearl Jam's, Eddie Vedder also added a great dynamic with the incredible ukulele-driven soundtrack.
A must watch for fans of Jack London books and free spirits everywhere.
