Review of Into the Wild (2007) by Jez M — 26 May 2013
The film occasionally wanders much like its lead, with montages that aspire to Malick's landscapes yet don't possess quite the same magic. Chris/Alex himself is treated in quite a linear fashion, but those whose lives he touched are portrayed magnificently by a large and talented supporting cast.
Despite its occasional lack of focus, Into The Wild remains a profoundly affecting movie, compounding the tragedy of Chris' naive spiritual journey with the myriad tragedies he left in his wake.
