Well, it's certainly better than the original, but that's saying so very little and I also only remember all the ridiculous gore and fx in the original. As far as natural horror goes, idk, it kind of just fits right in with all the others (not good).
Especially among other bear movies BECAUSE BACKCOUNTRY IS THE BEST Y'ALL AND I CANT NOT COMPARE THEM ALL TO IT. There is one scene with one of the main characters lost in fog though and that was genuinely scary.
