Review of Into the Abyss (2011) by Roman R — 21 Mar 2012
Another fine documentary by the proficient auteur Herzog. I actually find this subject matter utterly fascinating. The part that I found most moving was when Herzog interviewed the killer's father.
The documentary doesn't shy away from both the horror and the empathy of the situation. What is most distressing is the absurdity of the crime. For a car - tragic. As much as the film is about death row, it's equally about appreciating life.
How are you going to live your "dash"? Beautifully stated.
