Review of Into Great Silence (2005) by Benjamin V — 11 Nov 2007
This is an almost 3-hour movie about the monks at the Grande Chartreuse monastery in the French Alps. It took the director 16 years to get permission to film inside, and it is extremely well done. A very contemplative work, much out of the way of most other movies you will see these days.
There is almost no talking at all, and this is why it is so refreshing.
