Review of Into Great Silence (2005) by Brandon S — 27 Jan 2008
Engrossing and powerful, but a film that you certainly need to be in the mood to watch, with a good bit of patience too. It requires a certain rigorous discipline, but once you get past the jarring stillness this film will reward you with a deep and surprising look into another world.
It's beautiful filmmaking, though I must say that I question the need to have it at nearly 3 hours, with a lot of repetitive shots scattered throughout.
