Review of Into Great Silence (2005) by Reza S — 09 Jul 2008
I lived near these monks!!! Amazing subject matter - the camera blends with the monastery and the daily movements of the monks so seamlessly and intimately. However, the editing, for my tastes, could've been tighter - it was undoubtedly an artistic choice, but I feel the long silences and pauses lag just a bit too long at times, stilting the overall impact of the film.
Nevertheless, it is a lyrical and spiritual journey, well worth seeing.
