Review of Interview with the Vampire (1994) by Juli N — 30 Apr 2014
The most important thing to remember is that "Interview with the Vampire" is far from perfect. It's a bit too long, and not all of the casting works. But what we do get is a wildly entertaining, atmospheric, funny, gory and thrilling Gothic tale that's far wittier than the simple "Dracula" imitation.
Anne Rice's novel is fitting material for a film, and the story is helped nicely by some very good performances. Brad Pitt is good as Louis and Tom Cruise's effortless charisma is perfect for Lestat, but the one to watch here is an early Kirsten Dunst as the tortured vampire child Claudia.
She's a knockout!
