Review of Interview with the Vampire (1994) by Reah L — 21 Jan 2015
Would have been four stars because oddly enough this is my favorite role for Tom cruise, I have to take a star off my rating for the odd casting and missing pieces of the story. Louis never had a wife and child, his depression actually came from his brothers accidental death which drove him into a spiral of darkness where he didn't seem to care what happened to him.
What was also not portrayed as well as it could have been, is the underlying hatred Louis had for Lestat's cruelty through out the movie and book. Of course, I also think Louis was somewhat in love with Lestat, and I like the quirk and charm Tom added to Lestat's demeanor.
Claudia was played perfectly, I have no doubt that Kirsten was the best fit for her. overall, I loved the screenplay, since it was written by Anne herself, but the casting and missing links leaves a bit to be desired.
