Review of Interstellar (2014) by Esther Y — 09 Nov 2015
At the end of Interstellar, Christopher Nolan's new and ambitious venture, we see the protagonist of the film Cooper played by McConaughey inside what looks like a celestial vicinity which enables him manipulate TIME like a physical object.
As I see it, or as Nolan would have it, there may be even a sixth dimension called "Leap Of Faith" and a seventh "Suspension of Disbelief." Suspension of disbelief or willing suspension of disbelief is a term coined in 1817 by the poet and aesthetic philosopher Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who suggested that if a writer could infuse a "human interest and a semblance of truth" into a fantastic tale, the reader would rather suspend judgement concerning the implausibility of the narrative.
In this context, Nolan's movie has done much more than provoke thought. He's touched the heart and soul and enlightened the spirit. Now that's QED :).
