Review of Interstellar (2014) by Brad S — 20 Dec 2015
_ Lucky enough to see it a 3rd time in theatres in a 70mm print, still just as stunning to watch. Such a powerful film, beautifully told. The acting is top-notch, as is the cinematography and score. This one rewards repeat viewings as well. A MUST watch!
- This was my second time seeing this film, which I chose as my #1 film of last year after seeing it in IMAX. I wondered if it would lose some of it's power watching on blu-ray, but it doesn't because the story and acting is there still. Seeing in IMAX was an amazing experience, but it simply enhanced an amazing film. This movie is challenging, original, daring, and in my opinion deeply rewarding. I wish more people went to see it in theatres, everyone complains there's nothing but sequels and adaptations, but many complained about this film and tried to pick apart the science. Now science aside, it's a highly entertaining film, and from what I understand they made best efforts to make the science real. In any case, this film is an instant classic and a MUST watch!
- WOW...that is my initial reaction to this movie. My head is still spinning from excitement. The movie is incredibly ambitious in every sense, from the storyline, to the practical effects and shooting. The movie is almost 3hrs, but that worked for me as it really allowed them to develop the characters so you care about them, and also to walk the audience through the Science in the film, of which there is lots. I want give away and story points, just go see it, the less you know the better. The film is not without flaws, but they are easily forgiven for what Nolan has done with this film. McConaughey is great, possibly an Oscar nomination, and the girl who plays his daughter is also amazing. See this film in IMAX. One of the best movie going experiences of the year!
