Review of Interstellar (2014) by Stealthgear — 15 Dec 2014
Nolan is Michael Bay with a slightly longer attention span. Interstellar is filled with movie ruiners; Matt Damon, a Deus ex Machina ending, and sad characters; The daughter doesn't find resolution or make emotional sense in regards to her dad.
This one was typical of Nolan's past style where what you see is what you get. It never finds new ground, a new level of artistry, or metaphor like 2001 did. This ain't Kubrick. The story is part JJ Abrams Star Trek, Astronaut Farmer, and any post apocalypse movie.
It does not even surpass how fun Gravity was. The actors and sound designers all did a good job though. It has some cool moments where I thought it might be a great movie. The first half of the movie is great honestly.
The fighting scenes and unoriginality seep back in. The previous mentioned movie ruiners really set this back. You might be thinking huh? When you figure out everything you realize that it doesn't set the bar higher.
