Review of Interstate 60 (2002) by Eric R — 23 Oct 2011
Neal Oliver (James Marsden) is an artist who has questions about what to do with his future. He comes from a rich family, and while his dad has his future planned out, Neal has a lot of questions. That is until he meets, O.
W. Grant (Gary Oldman) a man? with the ability to grant wishes. O.W. Grant grants Neals wish which questions what his life is about which sends him on a mystical journey across the country on the fictional Interstate 60.
This is a very inventive, fun surreal american indie film which is essentially a road movie. The film follows Neal through these adventures across the country as he slowly learns about himself through his zany adventures.
The film is full of great actors with Gary Oldman, Chris Cooper, Kurt Russell. Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, etc. all playing fun and/or memorable parts no matter if they are in the film for 5 minutes or 60.
The films message is a little preachy in its message but it's just one of those films that reminds me that cinema has no boundaries in telling interesting stories.
