Review of Intermezzo: A Love Story (1939) by Richard D — 02 Apr 2013
One can certainly see why this film made Ingrid Bergman a star in Hollywood. She's luminescent. The movie itself is a pretty turgid and predictable melodrama. Leslie Howard is an actor I seem to either love ("Pygmalion", "The Scarlet Pimpernel") or hate ("The Petrified Forest", "Gone with the Wind").
This movie falls into the hate camp ... he's limp and lifeless as a romantic lead in this flick.
