Review of Interiors (1978) by Cyril M — 13 Jul 2008
Up until recently, I never liked Woody Allen's films, but lately, I've been giving them a second chance. I knew this was a homage to Ingmar Bergman's style and as he's one of my favourites, I decided to watch it.
I was really pleased. Much of it is emulating Bergman's style as if it was a Bergman movie in English, but the character study was interesting enough to make me forget about that. Some people don't like this movie because the characters are self-obsessed and not comedic, but that's what makes them compelling.
The best move Woody Allen made was to stay out of this film himself. His character would have really ruined it.
