Review of Interiors (1978) by Yong C — 22 Jul 2008
Interiors is a direct nod to Ingmar Bergman's psychological dramas about morality, disintegration, and philosophical salvation. When the patriarc abruptly leaves his family to pursue an extra-marrital relationship with another woman, Eve, his loyal wife, is forced to re-examine her worth in the world.
This isn't a bad film persay and for Allen fans, it is worth watching just to see how the director handles dramatic subject matter after a long streak of succesful comedy-based films, but Interiors is so bent on being Bergman that Allen's distinctive voice is lost along the process.
