Annoyingly self-indulgent at times, this one-hour project by the multi-hyphened artist known as James Franco, is a documentary style re-imagining of the purported forty lost minutes from William Friedkin's controversial 1980 gay-themed S&M thriller CRUISING.

But curiously it's far more than that, and that's the annoying bit. INTERIOR. LEATHER BAR is also about the filmmakers' rationale to recreate the lost footage, their casting call process and, ultimately, the actors chosen to participate in the sordid retro underground scenes.

Still mostly, it's about an actor friend of Franco's who is 'straight,' lands the lead, playing Al Pacino's character, and how he claims to be grappling with the part. I say, give me a break.

Do it or don't do it but don't complain about it on screen. I said it, self indulgent.
