Review of Intacto (2001) by Kyle K — 21 Oct 2007
An imaginative, playful exploration of luck and those who possess the singular ability to steal it from others.
Monica Lopez is the dark horse, with a stellar performance that is stellar because it is so unexpected, and Max von Sydow is the uber-villain, truly believing he is immortal.
It is refreshing to find a film that does not play to hackneyed or easy solutions simply because they are easy or favorable. Intacto realistically deals with an unrealistic situation in a way that oozes finesse, but also the gritty underbelly of what man makes.
