Review of Intacto (2001) by Phil B — 10 Aug 2008
An intriguing plot revolving around the notion that Luck is a gift that can be stolen by a fortunate few. These few then gamble worldy possession and/or people (unsure whether it was the person's luck and/or soul being traded) in bizarre games where the luckiest person wins, and in some cases stays alive.
The plot was a little confusing in parts, and leaves the viewer feeling a little disorientated, but overall it's fairly stylishly done and has enough to hold it together to the climax.
Mainly in Spanish with subtitles, the film lacks a decent soundtrack to back it up and the audio can be a little flimsy in parts (here the subtitles were very useful!) but not enough to spoil it all.
