Review of Intacto (2001) by Kevin D — 22 Feb 2009
The sole survivor of a plane crash and a cop discover an underworld where deadly games of chance are played by peolpe with nearly supernatural luck. This is a culture pervaded with paranoia and superstition, and director Fresnadillo imbues it with a startling credibility.
My only carp is that there are rules to the game, no matter how nebulous, which leads to a formulaic resolution: the film maintains an impeccable balancing act for most of its length, and I only wish it could keep us on our toes longer.
