Review of Insurgent (2015) by William C — 04 May 2015
Insurgent (the sequel of Divergent) directed by Robert Schwentke (adaptation of the novels by Veronica Roth) is a science fiction film. It was released in 2015.
The film, set in a post apocalyptic world organized into five factions, starring Shailene Woodley a.k.a Tris the divergent and Theo James (Four) his ally. It tells the story of Tris who does everything for escape from Janine (the villain, played by Kate Winslet) who stalks her because she is the only one 100% divergents who can open a mysterious box...
One of the positive points is the mix between the love story of Tris and Four and the action of the film. The most surprising moment in the film occurs when Tris dies, but we finally realize that she isn't.
At the beginning of the film it's very confusing to see the duet Shailene and Ansel now brother and sister but finally they can leave their lover roles from "The Fault in Our Stars" and I was impressed. The actors are very well. The negative points are the absence of key scenes from the book and the soundtrack which a little disappointed me.
But I definitely recommend this film because it is full of actions and twists. The performances and the special effects are excellent. I also recommend to read the books for better understand the film.
