Ughhhhh. Screw this franchise. The first movie was enjoyably OK, but this movie is frustrating and stupid. Again doing its best to rip off every YA novel ever, the only good things in this movie are a few performances and a few action scenes.
This movie is boring, slow, convoluted, and dull. Woodley is great again, and Jai Courtney again surpasses most everyone. Teller, Winslet, and everyone else know how stupid this movie is and completely phone it in.
The CGI is worse, some storylines are useless and generic, and the writing sucks. The most frustrating thing about this movie is the OBVIOUSLY FORCED TENSION! There are so many scenes where you are supposed to care, and you just don't.
The worst scene in the movie is a scene that is supposed to make you feel for Woodley's character, but I was shaking my head the whole time. The music and cinematography can't even save it. The plot is convoluted, the acting is dull, the writing is awful, and the action is enjoyable yet forgettable.
It's not unwatchable, but is one of the more frustrating movies of 2015. 3.5/10.
