I prefer the book than the movie (obviously!). The book give us the detail struggle of Tris and the other divergent and former Dauntless, the values she posses etc, while the movie only give us the actions side of it.

But I think people these day (who's not ignorant) are understand the importance of reading the book (for a movie adapted from it) so I wouldn't worry they don't get the grip of what really is going on.

Although is quite funny and refreshing how they succeeded to cast all of Shailene former boyfriends from her other movies. :).
