Review of Insurgent (2015) by Vicki06 — 04 Jul 2016
A real waste of time and/or money! The acting was good, but the whole movie was structured so poorly that even the acting had a difficult time to show through. It is totally confusing, boring, doesn't flow well, can't begin to tell the good guys from the bad (although I think that is the point, but it was so bad you just aren't sure) and worst of all for me, some of the scenes where they use the movie's version of "technology" started me into epileptic seizures so I had to put my hands over my eye's once I caught on to the problem.
The book(s) were so much better (usually they are), they had great plot lines you could follow, far more emotional stuff that was part of the whole, way too many changes completely from the books. I've seen good books turn into not great movies, but this is barely recognizable to the book.
People change, their actions change, they leave out 80% of the book and replace another 30% with something completely different. I would have walked out on the movie even if I hadn't read the books. Having read the books (which were good) made me wonder if they weren't trying to rewrite the books.
