Review of Instinct (1999) by Lil B — 01 Mar 2008
This is one of the finest films ever to grace the cinema screen. The acting, not just from Hopkins and Gooding Jr. but the entire cast, is superb. It will take a great deal of resistance not to get sucked in by the moving story of a highly intelligent man who gets to experience life as nature intended, only to be captured and thrown back in with the mistreated dregs of human society.
By the time the film reached its powerful and emotional conclusion, I felt fairly jaded and disappointed. Not by the film, but by its subjects; us. If you'd like a raw look at humanity and all that is wrong with it, take a look.
If you don't have the stomach to face that, don't.
