Review of Inspector Gadget 2 (2003) by Cody C — 21 Dec 2015
Despite it being direct to video, as everyone has stated, it IS more faithful to the bumbling comedy of the original cartoon, which the first movie tried and failed to do. The new actors such as French Stewart are more fitting for the roles and get more chuckles out of the audience than Broderick's bland deliveries and disregard for the cartoon it was based off of.
There are still some flaws and awkward deliveries, especially with the addition of G2, but is an actually legitimate sequel which is more faithful and funny in comparison, such as having Penny actually contribute something to the plot and Claw case rather than be a side character at best in the first movie.
That being said, at least it can call itself enjoyably bad instead of just "bad", it comes close to being an ok adaptation and will definitely make sure your kids are entertained, at least a little.
