Review of Insomnia (2002) by Ernesto J. M — 27 Jun 2014
(Sorry for my bad english) Witty and attractive remake, placed in a town where the sun never hides, so the environment weakens the energy of a detective who had learned (by the experience) that the end justifies the means, and he bends the law to catch his suspects.
Unusual, for a thriller to hinge on issues of morality and guilt, and Nolan's remake doesn't avoid the obligatory Hollywood requirement that all thrillers must end in a shoot-out. There is also a scene involving a chase across floating logs, and a scene where a character is trapped underwater.
In a film where the psychological suspense is so high... why we need that? The fact that it is always daylight is important: The dilemma of this cop is that he feels people are always looking at him, and he has nowhere to hide, not even in his nightmares.
