Review of Insidious: The Red Door (2023) by Habibiehakim — 12 Jul 2023
I'd say that the first 45 minutes of The Red Door was considerably better than Insidious: Chapter 2, until it really dragged down until the end of the film from Sinclair Daniel character that I found sometimes unnecessary though I don't hate her character at all, the slowness part of the film that make me quite bored, and I feel like they should do more the scary part, there is some horror movie that people's find having way too much scary part, this one should do more, overall I still think Insidious: The Red Door was a good movie, Patrick Wilson in his directorial debut was impressive enough to make the tone and the atmosphere of the film felt just like the original two James Wan Insidious movie, the performance are great and especially Ty Simpskins which are really growing to become a legit great actor since I watch his performance in The Whale, the build up to the scary part was always one of the most impressive things about these franchise because how they do it was always smart (except Chapter 3), particularly this one, most of the build up was really well executed and smart at the same time, that's why I hope there is more, in terms of experience I was mostly entertained with the film but what makes it even more fun was that i'm watching it with a pretty fun audience so that it feels like we were in this ride together and it's fun, now compare to the other Insidious movie, still not one that can beat the original and the sequel, I gave The Red Door the same score as The Last Key, which one is scarier i'm gonna go with The Last Key, which one is more well directed i'll go with The Red Door, and it's definitely way better than Chapter 3, overall I enjoy Insidious: The Red Door, I like it, and it's a good movie overall.
