This had the power to be so much more than it is. Lots of loose ends remain untied, Whannell's writing has gotten lazy and not much makes sense. It feels unresolved for the closing chapter in what has been a pretty entertaining series.
Lin Shaye's powerful performance and a few well staged scares just aren't enough to make this entry memorable.
