Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Luke H — 17 Jun 2015
Surprisingly suspenseful and, at times, even terrifying, Insidious: Chapter 3 stands as one of the few 3rd movies of a horror franchise to ever exceed expectations. Lin Shaye is phenomenal as a franchise regular, the direction is surprisingly adept and coherent, and the final act avoids collapsing into complete nonsense like so many horror films of today.
I give my appreciation to director Leigh Whannell for delivering something far more inspired than anyone was anticipating while also breathing life into a series with a fairly intriguing premise rather than lazily executing just another installment to milk the series for cash.
