Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Sebastian H — 04 Jun 2015
Well, here we go again. Another sequel to another horror film that is desperately trying to be a franchise popular enough to warrant multiple sequels, and... son of a bitch they succeeded with this one.
So far, each Insidious film has been really good. Focusing on story and characters, the Insidious films have set the example of what horror movies should be like, and Insidious Chapter 3 also surprisingly sets the example of how to do prequels properly too, well, for the most part.
This time around, Director of the first two Insidious movies, James Wan didn't direct this 3rd film because he signed on to direct Furious 7, but instead writer of all the insidious films, Leigh Whannell, including this film, makes his directorial debut and not only lives up to James Wan's previous films but he also adds interesting new elements to this franchise.
Suffice it to say, this third installment was surprisingly really good and so worth paying to see in the theater. In fact, I highly recommend seeing it in the theater and not waiting to rent it or buy it.
I give Insidious Chapter 3 a C+.
