Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Jon C — 05 Jun 2015
Thank GOD it makes up for the failure of the 2nd movie.
It's just as scary as the original movie if not that much better.
And there's more direct focus on character this time around.
Lin Shaye gets another chance to shine as Elise who we see her beginnings as a contact of the dead; she's saddened by the loss of her husband and is afraid of the oncoming death from a demon that awaits her in the future so she has stopped using her gift to explore the Further.
Things change though when a girl, Quinn is being attacked by a malevolent spirit while trying to contact her own deceased mother.
This takes place before the Lambert incident but it's a scarier look into the humble beginnings of Elise and her encounters with the dark dead phantoms.
I got a few decent frights I'll admit.
Jump-scares and clichés aside 'Insidious: Chapter 3' is better scare-fest fare.
