Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Travis G — 05 Jun 2015
I saw the latest chapter of the Insidious franchise - Insidious Chapter Three - today, and it was solid horror film.
This movie is a prequel to the first Insidious film, and I think it's a nice addition to the series.
While there were some decent and well-timed scares, this film also had some real emotional undercurrent.
I loved Lin Shaye's performance as medium Elise, a character she played in all 3 Insidious films. We get more of a backstory about her and added some emotional depth. I also loved the return of Specs and Walker as comic relief, played by Angus Sampson and director Leigh Whannell.
Speaking of Leigh Whannell, I think he did a fine job in his directorial debut as well as writing the screenplay.
Now, you have to be fans & watched the previous 2 Insidious films to understand some aspects of the film. While it started slowly, the action definitely pick up & would satisfy you, especially for Insidious fans.
I enjoyed this movie, and it's a good film to watch for a matinee fare.
I give it a grade of an B.
ENJOY!!
