Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Andreas M — 05 Jun 2015
It leans a little too much on jump scares, but they're mostly still effective. The movie is at its best when it keeps confined and doesn't try too much. The humor from the second movie is still to be found in this one, but the overall creativity and campiness that made the original stand out is still lacking.
There are some parts in the script that are bit odd...and maybe not executed perfectly, but Whannell does enough to keep it grounded and entertaining. It doesn't bring anything new, but Whannell knew what he wanted to add to the mythos of his franchise and it's a solid addition to the Insidious saga.
