I like the Insidious trilogy, but not because I find the series scary, but because I find the story really compelling and intriguing. It takes the demon aspect of horror films and gives it a really clever twist, and the trilogy, unlike most horror film sequels, actually continues to add the story with each movie in a really good way.

*Chapter 3* is no exception to this. *Chapter 3* acts as a prequel to the first two, adding very interesting backstory to Elise, the psychic, who may be my favorite horror film character since Laurie Strode from *Halloween*.

Stefanie Scott also deserves praise here as her role as Quinn, the main character. Scott breathes life into a character that otherwise would be very stale portrayed by other actresses of her age. I found the scary elements of the film to be very interesting as well.

Many jump scares, which are fine, but horror films that rely too much on them are not my cup of tea. *Chapter 3* does have some longer, more intense scares, though, and this is why the *Insidious* trilogy also peaks my interest.

Horror films that are able to sustain that intense feeling of fright throughout a longer scene deserve a lot of praise, and *Chapter 3* offers this in a few scenes. It is a very nice addition to the *Insidious* series.
