Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Thehoard . — 18 Jul 2015

So I was looking forward to this one ever since watching the trailer and tv spots. I really liked the " this is how you die" tag line and poster. But I'm sorry to say I was pretty disappointed.

I'm not sure what it was. I know there was another director. The guy who wrote or cowrote the last films as well as the first saw film. I can see he put heart into doing this film and it wasn't for money or any obligation to make a third.

It just didn't work. It wasn't so much the pacing. I just can't put my finger on it but it just didn't work. It wasn't scary. There was only one scary moment and it was literally at the very end.

That face she sees near the door that her dog is barking at. That was creepy. Everything else wasn't. It had all the elements the first one had just not executed properly. The lead head butting the spirit that wants to kill her was a bit hammy.

I guess there wasn't enough build up and everything was just sort of rushed through? I don't know. But the acting wasn't too bad. Just didn't work for me.
